Petite Review: J.Crew Grand Ruffle Shell- XXS

I was super excited to get my J.Crew items- all thanks to Extra Petite’s post here on super sale items in XXS. That was such an awesome post! I wouldn’t think to buy something that was non-petite sized but check out her post here where she tries on the shell in an XS. Thanks Extra Petite!:)  Here is the J.Crew light berry shell I paired with a Banana Republic Merino charcoal wool cardigan and a Italian Bebe charcoal skirt:
Here’s w/the cardigan buttoned….
Here’s the cardigan unbuttoned to show off the J.Crew Grand ruffle shell….
Top: J.Crew Grand ruffle shell in light berry– size XXS (was $42.50 now $24.99)
Sweater: Banana Republic Merino Wool Cardigan- size PXXS (similar here and here)
Skirt: Bebe Italian skirt- size 00 (similar here and here)
Shoes: Aldo Patent Pumps– size 5
J.Crew grand ruffle shell is still available in XXS in the following colors: light berrychalkslate,  and moroccan spice. This is a final sale so make sure you love it before making your purchase. But you better hurry because it will be gone! I lucked out and bought it during their sale before they made it a final sale so I can still return the colors I don’t like. I will be returning the sweet guava and moroccan spice only because it doesn’t make sense to keep all the colors even though I am quite tempted! I do love the chalk and slate and will definitely be keeping those! I’m sure you will see it in future posts:)
Here it is in slate

This J.Crew Grand ruffle shell fits really nicely! The XXS is surprisingly petite friendly. The arm holes aren’t too big. The only complaint is that the length is a bit long if you want to tuck it in. I love to tuck in everything so with a fitted skirt- you may see some bulges but other than that- it’s adorable and you can’t beat the price!

The Banana Republic merino wool cardigan is one of my favorite cardigans. It fits so nicely and made really well. I got it on super sale shortly after Winter and they still had a PXXS online- shocker. Most cardigans are too big- width wise so it sometimes can make me look frumpy but since this is cut for petites, it fits perfectly. I do have to cuff the sleeves but I actually like doing that.

I just love that there are so many petite bloggers and readers out there! It’s so nice to have a way to share outfits, sales and ideas 🙂 So thank you for everyone who blogs and for everyone who cares to read our blogs!!!

  1. Darn…now I want to order it in light berry! The color looks great on you esp. against the gray outfit. I just don't want to pay for shipping. Why oh why can't they carry XXS in stores?

  2. PS – a bigger closet (abiggercloset.blogspot.com) is modeling the same top today. She must be quite a bit taller than us – look at where it hits on her!

  3. Haha… you beat me to it! I just got my Grand Ruffle shells too… I'm thinking about keeping the same 3 colors! It fits me a bit differently though… I don't fill out my clothes quite as nicely as you 🙂

  4. thx for the comment =)

im seeing ruffles everywhere lately. i love it. esp this look on you. very chic and sophisticated.

  5. @EP- OMG! Ur right- it def looks longer on a bigger closet! How funny! You should totally get Light Berry- just order a bunch to get free shipping and then return 🙂 The color is soooo pretty!!!! 🙂

@PetiteXXS- I can't wait to see it on you! I am sure you look beautiful in it! I agree- the slate, chalk and light berry are the best colors to keep!!! 🙂
