Lookbook: Polkadots and Ruffles

Not sure if anyone’s noticed but I have a new layout and new design for my blog. I am IN LOVE with it and am so happy with how it turned out. Everything happens for a reason and I am excited at how pretty it looks now! YAY!
I fell in love with this skirt when I saw it at H & M. I don’t have anything like it and the fit was absolutely perfect! I have a tendency to buy very “similar” pieces so I am trying my best to go “outside” my comfort zone and try new looks. Ever since I started this blog, it forces me to be more selective when shopping which is always good for the pocket book!
The details of the ruffles paired with the polkadots is not only feminine but so cute!
Top: Ann Taylor Loft puff sleeve sweater- size XXSP (similar HERE and HERE)
Skirt: H & M- size 2 (similar HERE and HERE)
Shoes: Nine West nude pumps– size  5 (I am literally wearing these pumps to death) Below is another pair of nude pumps I want:
Jimmy Choo’s I am coveting…..

Ahh….my lovely backyard….it’s so much prettier than my office….
I tried to pair this skirt with a very simple and plain top just because there is so much going on with the ruffle and the polka dots. You always want to find balance and not go too crazy with colors and patterns otherwise it’s just too much. I did think that this navy blue looked really nice with peach- surprisingly!
Shop other polka dot skirts:
1. Shopbop mini ruffle skirt– this comes in XS and S but probably is more of a play skirt than a work skirt, still very darling
2. Barney’s spurlge skirt– expensive but quality is superb and style can be for work or play
3. Forever 21 version– only $12.80 and is most like the one I am wearing
4. Dotted floral skirt– I can definitely see myself wearing this and it’s so affordable
I had to take a break and sit down for a second- my heels were digging into the soft grass:)
Sorry for the messy hair- just got done with work! Here’s a full shot of the back of the skirt.
And a close-up so you can see the details. I am trying my best to take more pictures outside my office because the lighting is clearly much brighter and prettier and so you lovely readers don’t get bored of my work background. I found a few other items at H & M this past weekend which I am sure will be appearing in my upcoming posts!

  1. One great look! Somehow I just haven't have luck finding a polka dot piece that I like and looks good on me. The same goes with strips. Glad you found yours :).

  2. That's definitely an interesting design on that skirt, don't think I've ever seen that before. Looks great on you. Good job on the new layout! 🙂

  3. Ah…I tried on that skirt at H&M last week! Didn't do it for me, but you made it work for you. Plain tee was definitely the way to go!

  4. You are soo successful and still find bargains–I admire that about you!!! I love your new layout–really nice!!! Does your husband take pictures for you? PLEASE DO A BLOG SALE!!! I will buy all your clothes—lol!!!

  5. @April- I love myself a bargain! I don't believe in paying retail for anything except anything Chanel or Louis Vuitton…those are my weaknesses- especially handbags- a very expensive obsession! I only just started my collection…LOL I am desperately trying really hard not to buy things that are not of quality but H & M constantly sucks me in!!

Hubby actually doesn't take my photos for me- I do it all by myself! I use a mini-tripod he got for my camera so my skills are obviously lacking but I am learning! Self-photography is definitely tricky!

And the blog sale- OMG- I totally would love to do that- just have to figure out how to incorporate because I have no idea 🙂

  6. You're helping me out because I always leave the store empty handed. Till, of course, I went to Taiwan. =O! Still, it's frustrating to find clothes when you're very petite. I have very, very short legs with a long torso. haha.

    You look stunning. =o)
