Lookbook: Two Outfits With One Top

Happy Wednesday! I was torn on which outfit I wanted to post today so I just included both! I have on my new LOFT flutter trim blouson top  that I got this past weekend and couldn’t wait to wear it! Here it is in Pebble Melange Gray, also available in Ribbon Pink (which I also got). Up first is this top paired with the LOFT jacquard skirt in fresh navy:

Top: LOFT Flutter Top- size XXSP (sold HERE)
Skirt: LOFT Jacquard in Fresh Navy- size 00P (sold HERE)
Shoes: Tory Burch Angela Pumps- size 5

I tried to throw on my LOFT navy jacket here in size 0p: (similar HERE)
Too much or does it work? I kind of liked it and it tones down the shimmery skirt…thoughts?
Here’s in different lighting and a close-up:
This top surprisingly fits quite well. It has an elastic band on the bottom which I think is meant to be worn with jeans but it’s tiny enough where you can tuck in w/no bulge. I cannot stand bulges when tucking in tops! I tend to tuck everything in so it has to be fitted enough so it doesn’t look weird. This top reminds me of the Ann Taylor petal shell from months ago that I missed out on the small sizes.

I was really suspect about how this skirt would fit and how I would deal with the shimmer of it (especially) in a business environment. But the waist fits perfectly and the length was a perfect!
And then I tried a totally different outfit with cashmere sweater and pencil skirt:

Sweater: VINCE cashmere- size small
Skirt: Banana Republic Pencil Skirt- size 00p (similar HERE)
Belt: Random black belt (skinny belt sold HERE)
Necklace: Multi-Gray Colored Pearls (AFFORDABLE or SPENDY)

Which outfit do you like better? Or is both good choices for this top? Here’s some shots up close w/the top so you can see the pretty detail. I think this is supposed to be worn casually due to the cotton body of the shell but I like to dress it up for work and wear it underneath cardigans or jackets.

Good golly the camera is close….its rare I take one this close-up! None of my photos are edited since I don’t know how and simply don’t have the time so sorry if it scares anyone 🙂
I am super excited because I am going to be doing a review and a giveaway in the near future so stay tuned!!!! It’s going to be soooo good!!!

  1. I prefer the second outfit. The 1st one is too "navy" for me. I have tried on that skirt at store and didn't like it. It looks very shimmery in your picture. The second outfit, in the other hand is classy. Pink sweater adds a girly touch to it.

  2. I prefer the 2nd outfit too. I think the shimmer and texture of the skirt AND the ruffles of the shirt in the 1st outfit is a lot – I don't know which my eye is drawn to more!

It's a really great top though, it fits you beautifully!

  3. I love the second outfit. I have seen the LOFT jacquard skirt in person and I wasn't exactly impressed. But a few of the petite bloggers really loved it. I think you wear it well but it pales in comparison to the other outfits.

  4. The second one is pretty. However I love the first outfit! It looks very chic and gorgeous to me. I guess I'm just too much into navy and grey. 🙂

  5. Oh noo, I don't want to be an oddball but I liked the first one! The different contrasts of blue is what I liked. I blame it on looking at too many grey scales during college. (My major was in polymer and color chem)

  6. I love that in the second outfit you've styled your separates so that it looks like a dress (from faraway anyway), but my top pick would have to be the first outfit. The jacquard is amazing on that skirt! It is gorgeous!

    Have a great day!
    Jen

  7. i actually like the 1st outfit better! I like the color combo. Blue is a cute alternative to black! Cute outfit.

  8. Where are the best places for a blazer and skirt for someone curvy and 5'2? ( 125 to 145 lbs)

  9. @Anonymous- The best places for someone who is petite and curvy would be Ann Taylor Petites and LOFT Petites. Their sizing tends to a bit too big but may work for you if you have curves 🙂 Or J.Crew petites will work because their petite sizing will accommodate curvy petites!!! Let me know if you need anything else!!!

  10. Ladies shoes have caused many ladies pain over the years. Pain is the price paid for such beauty. A beautiful shoe that matches your outfit perfectly is too hard to pass up. However, know that you do not have to be in pain, if you do not want to.
