Being petite, the hem on most items (skirts, pants) always need to be altered, at least for me. I finally got my H & M camel skirt back fro my tailor and wanted to show you how much the length of a skirt makes a difference!
AFTER alterations:
Top: LOFT Ruffle Top - size XXSP (similar HERE)
Skirt: H & M Camel Skirt- size 2 (hem altered) (similar HERE)
Shoes: Ann Taylor Porcini Pumps- size 5 (similar HERE)
Skirt: H & M Camel Skirt- size 2 (hem altered) (similar HERE)
Shoes: Ann Taylor Porcini Pumps- size 5 (similar HERE)
BEFORE alterations:
**sorry for the wrinkles**
Sweater: J.Crew Merino Placket Cardi- size XXS (buy HERE)
Shoes: Aldo Brown Pumps- size 5/35 (buy HERE)
This length (before alterations) obviously was way too long and is NOT proportional to my petite frame.
This is totally random, but I am ANXIOUSLY waiting for these lizard peep toe pumps in pumice stone to go on sale in a size 5. So please keep your eyes out for me:) I lost a ton of money on my granite suede pumps and had to sell them because they were too big BUT my AT porcini pumps fit decent - not perfect but do-able. I do not have luck with Ann Taylor pumps but these are so cute and much better than my Nine West nude peep toes.
Top: J.Crew Cascading Flutter Shell in platoon- size XXS (buy HERE)
Sweater: LOFT Front Pocket Cardi (buy HERE)
Just taking up the hem a few inches makes such a HUGE difference! It makes the silhouette of the skirt much more appealing and fitted. It was $25 to tailor which is steep considering there is no lining and no special modifications.

If I remember correctly, the total length of the skirt is 20" which is exactly 1/2 of the length from my natural waist to the floor. 20" hits right above the knee. I think if I wasn't in the business world, I would have gone a bit higher but I need to keep a conservative length for the office.
Can you tell the difference in length? Do you think I took it up enough?
