Banana Republic Tweed Sheath Dress in 00P and New Cosmetics

Yet another sheath dress to add to my collection. I absolutely love sheath dresses, and I know I just wore a grey one in my last Stylebook post but I can't help myself! Here is my most recent love: (update with pics from my new Canon T2i)

After seeing it on Jean from ExtraPetite, I knew I had to have it. She was nice enough to post the tag so I could get the style numbers so thanks Jean! :) I was able to call several Banana Republic outlets and tracked down 3 dresses in 00p from 3 separate stores. It was NOT an easy task. You would think that it would be no big deal to call and tell them the item # and they would be able to look it up- that's not the case. They physically have to look on the racks for it. And I am learning that not all SA's are helpful or care to help (especially when it's busy). FYI- Banana Republic Factory outlet stores ship to the U.S for $5. I had to call over 10 BR Factory stores to find these dresses and it took me over 3 hours! Cynthia and Prosephina are the lucky ladies that will be getting the extra 2 dresses. I love helping out fellow petites but next time, I will have to charge a commission for my hard work- it's quite exhausting and time consuming!

Like Jean said in her video, the length definitely needs to come up...so more alteration costs....*sigh*. I know I have said this several times, my ideal skirt length is 1-2" above the knee. 50% skirt, 50% legs is what looks best on my frame.  I was able to try all 3 dresses on to compare the fit and not all fit the same which I thought was interesting. The one I have on is the one that fit me the best. One was definitely looser on me in the hips and top portion of the dress.

I wanted to keep this look simple and elegant. I wanted to add some color but decided not to and just kept it clean and basic. Have you ever wondered the difference between a SHEATH dress vs. a SHIFT dress? I did a little research and here is what I found from ModCloth Blog:
A sheath dress is a fitted, narrow, straight-cut dress that has a defined waistline either implied by vertical darts or a set-in waistline.  The skirt is generally a pencil-cut, falls around the knee, and usually requires a slit to make walking.
The classic shift dress is a straight-lined, basic dress that is not fitted to the body and can also be known as a chemise. It is generally cut down from the shoulders and can feature bust darts and slight (slight) flair at the hips or a tie-waist to ensure that it won’t look shapeless or baggy.

Just thought I'd share:) The bottom portion of this dress where the hips are is quite wide. I wish it was a bit more slimming but I guess I can't complain. The dress is fully lined and I love the belt detail. I think once I hem up the length, it will look much better and not so wide or at least I hope this will be the case!

The only unfortunate thing is that this dress was full price at $99 plus tax plus shipping:( I think we missed the sale by like 2 days. The SA said they had just changed their sale 2 days prior. I knew if I was to hold out for a sale, I would never find a 00P so I just coughed it up and I think it's worth it because I love it. And I will have to spend another $25 taking up the hem above my knee.

Surprisingly, this dress being from the outlet is very well made. I have found that most of the BR outlet items are not as nice quality as the regular BR stores. This is because they make items specifically for the Outlet which means it's cheaper quality.  This one just so happens to be really well made and the quality is extremely nice so that makes the price easier to swallow.
The closest tweed dress that I found is from Ann Taylor. Shop this stylebook:
Black Pumps

This is me wearing the Plum color and also why I don't have a beauty blog..:)
It's so sad that I am still trying to figure out my Canon SLR T2i. I can take photos of everything but myself well. I finally got a new tripod that is more steady so I am going to tinker around with it this weekend. I really hope I can learn the settings. The last photos of the nail polish and lipsticks and my hand were all taken on the new camera, see how pretty the quality is? I am so not a techie so have no clue what I am doing. Hopefully I can figure out how to take photos of myself with my remote!
