My New Dress Form

After being a part of the blogging world, I have become obsessed with getting a dress form. But I just couldn’t find anything I liked much less than the correct measurements. I can’t sew but just liked the thought of displaying my belts, scarfs  and necklaces and possibly outfits on something pretty. So after some extensive research, I decided that this was the closest thing to what I wanted:
DRESS FORM POTTERY BARN
Guess where I bought this? The least expected store. PBTeen (Pottery Barn Teen)! Who would have thought? It also comes in a grey chambray color
DRESS FORM BODY
The measurements are not my exact measurements but are somewhat close. I am 32 x 23 x 32 but this dress form is 33 x 25 x 34. So it’s the wider version of me. I was afraid it wouldn’t fit my clothes but it does! The fabric is made of cream linen and can be pinned. It stands at 65″ tall which is 5″ taller than me but I didn’t mind that.

I would have preferred a tripod wooden stand in the antique white finish but unfortunately, there is only one option. I gave up the tripod wooden legs for my pretty crystal top. Overall, isn’t this dress form totally ME?
There is some drama behind this dress form situation. First one I received had some marks on the back so I had to return it. They shipped me out the 2nd one and that had some wrinkling in the linen so now I have to return this one and wait for my 3rd one. You would think at the hefty price tag of $199 plus shipping, the product would be perfect but maybe I am just extremely picky.
TOP OF DRESS FORM
Here is a close-up top part which I fell in love with. My dress form had to have some kind of top- I love the pretty crystal ball.
DRESS FORM WITH BLAZER
The neck measures 12″ which is perfect. It fits my Theory 00 Gratian blazer and also my Ann Taylor Petal front shell in XXSP. Although since it’s a bigger than me, I am hoping it doesn’t stretch out my tops! I probably will only put tops that run bigger on it. But all my blazers fit just fine and I can even button them if I wanted to.
DRESS FORM WITH ANN TAYLOR BELT
Here I tested out the fit of the waist (25″) and it fits my Ann Taylor belt in XS on the LAST hole perfectly. YAY!
DRESS FORM WITH ANN TAYLOR NECKLACE
And I had to show off my new favorite Ann Taylor necklace I got last weekend.
Please share your thoughts on what you think about my new dress form!

  1. I've noticed that so many of the petite bloggers have a form! I think it's so cool. I love the one you got. Love the top part!

  2. Cute dress form – especially the crystal ball on top! Yes make sure it doesn't stretch out your tops!

So it's taller than you? You should post a pictures of you beside 😛

  3. oooh very pretty necklace. this is @ AT or ATF?

Crystal ball is definitely you. Gosh, who knew these things cost so much, eh?!

    happy cinco de drinko!

  4. I really like the one you got from pottery barn…this is definitely something I would love to have in my home! Thank you for sharing 🙂

  5. really cute dress form! i bought one a while back because i wanted to learn how to sew but never got around to it 😛

  6. The differences in measurement from your body to the mannequin is quite difference in my opinion. If you are going to use it to measure clothes for yourself, I think you should get a smaller one. In the meantime, it is really pretty 🙂

  7. Congratulations on finding a dressform!!! I spent an entire year looking for mine. Being in the fashion industry I honestly felt I would find some sort of connection with someone who knew where these could be purchased if any were sold at all. I drove to an actual dressform shop in LA (I live in Vegas) specifically looking for a "petite" dressform and this man clearly did not understand that I didn't need a size 0 but a form with a shorter torso. A very frustrating conversation to say the least. But somehow, on that 3 day trip, I randomly stepped into a GoodWill and actually found a real petite form, measures 34-25-35. The best day ever 🙂

  8. Thank you. Thank you thank you THANK YOU! I have been looking for a pretty petite dress form forEVER (since my actually useful adjustable dress form is kinda… gray and industrial…) I actually went on my monthly search for one when your blog came up! You now have a new biggest fan! ;D

  10. Hi! I am a little late to the game with buying one of these so of course, they no longer sell them. I need one to start selling my clothes but can’t find one that is petite at all. I am a 00 also. Do you have any suggestions of where I can get one?

  11. I’m impressed, I have to admit. Genuinely rarely should i encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you may have hit the nail about the head. Your idea is outstanding; the problem is an element that insufficient persons are speaking intelligently about. I am delighted we came across this during my look for something with this.
