After I wore this blazer for the first time, I quickly became aware of some issues.  I noticed that the hook does not stay on (very annoying). I’m not sure how to fix this problem and any suggestions would be great.  It’s not as fitted as my other navy H&M blazer (same fabric) because of the long lapels and the placement of the hook and eye fastener. The sleeves are slightly baggy a tad bit long.  I think when I tried it on in the fitting room, I had a thicker sweater on underneath (lesson learned) so it felt like it fit better than it really does.

This dress doesn’t fit perfect but when layered underneath a blazer, it’s doable. I may try to shrink it if I want to wear it alone. As you can see above, it’s slightly see through on certain angles, so you may want to wear a slip.  I chose to wear nude panties and it seemed to work just fine for me. Right now, the dress is quite shapeless so hopefully with some shrinking, it won’t be so boxy.

I chose to belt the blazer to keep it from un-hooking and it ended up working out quite nicely.  I think I may be obsessed with Ann Taylor belts. The XS’s usually fit w/out having to punch extra holes.  I also ordered the shocking pink too: )
Any suggestions on how to fix this hook and eye problem?

  1. A pink blazer in that shade is gorgeous for spring. I, too, recently purchased a pink blazer from H&M. Looking forward to wearing it when the temperature warms up. Have you tried wearing the dress with a bigger belt? It can be tricky though because the stripes are very large.

  2. You look so striking in that hot pink blazer 🙂 You could try to get a better hook from a fabric store to replace this one? Love your hair!

  3. Love pink and navy together! I like Mins' suggestion. Also, perhaps your tailors may have had past experiences with these types of hook?

  4. Love the mix of bright colours and the nude on the bottom. You look miles long even wearing horizontal stripes! Wish I could find blazers to fit like this…

  5. I paired my pink blazer with my striped dress over the summer and loved it! This looks gorgeous on you Annie, love it so much!

  6. I bought the pink blazer yesterday in a size 4 and had the same problem with the hook/eye and I'll probably return it although I do love the color. I thought it fit strangely because of that. My only solution that I thought was to possibly purchase a cute button and take it to a tailor to have them make a button hole to ensure it closed and lay properly. Also–what length are the sleeves supposed to be–on me , they are 3/4 length sleeves–jacket is a little tight

  7. Lovely outfit. Somehow I always look like I'm wearing football gear when I wear any blazer with shoulder pad.

  8. I think the sweater dress looks great on you! I would replace the hook eye with a button loop on an elastic. You can always choose a dark elastic and dark button or light one so it'll blend in with the outfit you'll mainly wear it with.

  9. Is the hook too shallow or is it too "straight"? You can either replace it (very simple sewing!) or bend it a little more. Love this look with the bright pink and blue!

  10. Love this outfit very much. I love how you incorporate bright and fun colors , every outfit look great and refreshing. You made me wanna go shopping!!

  11. I really like this outfit Annie! I always love the combination of pink and navy together. I also think this dress is the perfect length.
