Looks like it fits when it’s belted right? Wrong.

Likes: I really like the color block hem and pleats. It’s a very pretty and feminine flounce dress.

Dislikes: It’s much too big for me everywhere. Usually F21 size small’s fit but this one runs really large.

Verdict: Return unless someone would like to buy it before I ship it back. It was $27.80 + tax + exact ship. Please email me if you are interested.  So sad this doesn’t fit.

F21FloralDress
Floral Shirt Dress – size XS (Love 21 line)

Shoulder to shoulder = 14″
Waist = 12″
Sleeves = 16″
Total Length = 46″
Material = 100% polyester

Likes: I don’t know what it is about this floral print but I just think it’s super pretty. I am usually a solid type of person but have been into floral lately. The rolled tabbed cuffed sleeves are super cute. I was a bit hesitant about the button-up around the bust area because it’s always hit or miss for me. Usually the third or 4th button down, there is usually a gap but this one fits nicely.  I think my favorite part is how small the waist is and it comes with a belt (pleather)! The belt actually fits w/out having to punch extra holes- score.  It definitely helps accentuate the waist giving nice shape to this shirt dress.
Sorry for the horrible botched pin job.  It was so difficult since it was extra long and the material is so thin. And it was 6:30 a.m. while I had one eye open:)  It really doesn’t pouf out at the bottom like the picture is showing. I think it will look nice once it’s tailored.

Dislikes: The length is clearly an issue. It covers almost my entire body.  I almost died laughing when I tried it on!  Since it’s unlined, it will be super easy to take the hem up- easy fix and cheap.  After taking these pics, I realized I probably will have to slim the sides near the bust/armpit area.
Verdict: The price isn’t bad but will require alterations. Not everyone will enjoy this print but I really like it. I can see me wearing it alone, or with a cardigan/blazer for work.  I can’t decide if it’s worth these alterations. Why do I love it so much? Keep or return?

  1. Alright Annie! Thanks for the F21 dress review, I've been wondering about that red dress……turns out I love it on you, I guess I should have tried it on in the store! Lol It does look big on you, but I'm definitely bigger than you, so hopefully it will fit perfect if I decide to order 😉

  2. I am not a fan of either one. They both look very big on you. I don't think they're worth the alterations. Floral dresses will be everywhere this Spring. I'll say wait for the perfect (fit) one. Have a great weekend!

  3. I'm pretty much a solids kind of girl too.

    I'm not sure about the floral dress, that material looks really thin…Floral dresses are generally a no-no for me. Not only because my style is more solids but because I think it's hard to find patterns that are small enough to not look overwhelming on a petite frame.

    I like to follow Stacy London's rule: If the pattern's fist size or smaller, it's okay. Otherwise, it can be overwhelming.

  4. I really want something scarf printed for spring, not sure if I want a pair of ankle length pants or a skirt. I like the floral print dress but would suggest altering it! The midi length and the oversized floral print is overwhelming on your petite frame. Other than that, you should keep it!

  5. Catching up on posts now 🙂 I love the color-blocked dress but too bad the fit is so off. To be honest, I'm not a fan of putting money into altering F21 items just because they typically won't last the long haul. I like floral dresses in general but don't really like this print on a brown, shiny background. Looks too 70s? I hope that doesn't sound too harsh!

  6. FYI – I saw a dress that looked similar to the F21 dress (only sleeveless) in Macys and Nordstroms. Apparently it was Jessica Simpson's line which I've never tried but it looked adorable! I'm not sure about the sizing but it might fit you better.
