How To: Display/Store Your Scarfs and Necklaces

NecklaceHolder
If you follow me on Pinterest, you have already seen this but wanted share with those of you who don’t have an account. I’ve had this fleur de lis coat hanger (not sure what it’s real purpose is) for years and never really had any use for it until one day I was cleaning out all my jewelry and re-discovered it. It holds the majority of my necklaces so nicely and doesn’t topple over when it gets too heavy like my old necklace trees. I got it at either TJMaxx or Home Goods – can’t remember but it was around $12-$13. I think even a decorative belt holder or coat hanger with hooks would work just as nicely. I’m planning on making one of these or you can purchase them on Etsy (just search for necklace knob hanger). There are tons of great options like this pink and crystal knob one. It’s a great way to store and display your necklaces and make it easy to select one when you are getting ready in the morning.

I have a ton of cute scarfs but rarely wear them because when I’m in a hurry in the morning, I don’t have time to dig in my drawer. I found an extra towel bar and put it inside my walk-in closet and now I can see all my scarfs and it’s easy to decide which one to wear. It’s nice and neat and doesn’t take up much space!
Hope you find this helpful and please let me know how you store your scarfs and necklaces : )

  1. I have those necklace trees and it takes up so much space! I think this is a space saver for my countertops.

  2. Love the scarf display! I agree with you, I stored my scarves in drawer and didn't have time to find one rushing out of the house in the morning, what a great idea! Thanks!

  3. Great idea Annie. I use hangers for my scarves. But this is definitely great space saver and display.

  4. I like this idea, but doesn't your jewelry get dusty? Do you clen everything regularly?

  5. I love your display ideas. I'm doing some spring cleaning in my closest and trying to redecorate my room. The extra towel bar is genius!

It's probably silly me, but I worry about hanging my necklaces like that. I need to get over the thought that gravity is gonna make them stretch or wear the clasp out. lol

Do you apply anything to your green Amrita Singh necklace to make sure it doesn't oxidize? Or is there even anything one can do?

    Hope all is well! =)

  6. I don't think that's silly of you to worry about them stretching or the clasp being ruined. I just make sure to hang them gently:) The AS necklaces- I have tried everything but I think due to the poor quality- they oxidize no matter what- total bummer too!

  7. LOVE the scarf display idea! I think I'm going to have to steal that from you. 🙂 I've seen retail stores (GAP, etc) display their scarves this way, but I never thought of adapting it for my closet!

  8. Definitely need to do some organizing…my belts/scarves are great…but I've gotten a lot of jewelry lately and have just been cramming it into plastic baggies and tossing them in the drawer. Not so hot! Thanks for the reminder and inspiration.

  9. The scarf idea is fantastic, Annie. I don't have room in my walk in closet, but I have a spare towel bar in the bathroom that is never used. I will be putting all my scarves up there. hehe. Thanks for the idea.

  10. I like the necklaces display idea. I have one of those hanging on my wall already….never thought about necklaces on it. Do you think they will get dusty? Just curious if you have had yours displayed there for long?

  11. Those are great ways to store your accessories. I don't have that many scarves/necklaces so everything fit into my jewelry box and a hanger =)

  12. I have a similar set up for my necklaces but I've never seen that scarf idea! I love it, thanks for taking the time to share 🙂

  13. I've read this earlier from your tweet and reallllyy want to try this. But first I still want to re-decorate my room, then this should be my next plan. Thank you for the idea ^^
