Likes: The fit is amazing. I am wearing a 00p (5′ tall and 90-92 lbs.) I wasn’t expecting this to fit this good. Most Ann Taylor skirts usually run slightly big in the waist and hips. The length hits me right at the perfect spot. It’s a tailored and classic fit which is so rare to find (without alterations)! I ordered this and only got 30% off but I wasn’t about to chance missing out on my size like the midnight tweed pencil skirt and matching femme tweed jacket. I posted it on my sidebar and posted it here – waited too long while debating and all sizes were gone. I am so glad it has a hidden back zipper with hook-and-eye closure.  I am trying to stay away from all exposed zippers. It also has a back vent and is fully lined. The quality is nice and thick but not too heavy.

Dislikes: I was unsure of the peridot color and how I would be able to style it. The flecks of mint and peppermint pink is gorgeous in real life. It doesn’t look like much online but trust me, it’s pretty. There is also a lot of light gray and flecks of white in the skirt which I did not notice online. I like that it’s a lighter colored tweed so it’ll be easy to transition into Spring.
Verdict: Keeping and would recommend.

Likes: I’ve been looking for a light colored tweed skirt suit for what seems like eternity.  I love the contrast and frayed edging detail. It adds a different spin to what would sometimes be considered a very conservative look.  Some people aren’t big fans of matching pieces but I like the classic look of a full skirt suit.  The fit of the skirt is a bit bigger in the waist and hips than the multicolored tweed. I think once belted, I should be able to get away with it. The skirt length is a perfect for work.  The neutral color palette will be easy to pair with blouses.

I love the the silhouette and classic style of the blazer. It’s simple with a notched lapel, one button front and flap besom pockets. It fits decent buttoned and un-buttoned.

The one most important factor in purchasing a matching skirt suit is if I can wear each piece separately. I can see this skirt being worn with different blazers and tops and the jacket can be paired with dark skinny jeans and a casual shirt for a chic weekend look.

Dislikes: The sleeves are supposed to be 3/4″ sleeves but I would have preferred a full length sleeve (my ideal sleeve length is 20.5″).  The good thing is I won’t have to do any alterations!  The color of the skirt online appears to be a pinkish blush color and doesn’t even match the color of the matching blazer.  The color is called pale praline but looks more of a light taupe to me.

Verdict: Keeping and would recommend.
Ann Taylor is having a 40% off sale on all dresses – use code: DRESSES
My picks include this peplum dress, doubleweave zip shift dress, chiffon sheath dress (no petites but so cute).
What are your thoughts on the skirt suit and tweed pencil skirt?

  1. To be honest, I think this suit looks a little matronly. I think it is the color and cut of the blazer. The sleeves are a little too wide. I love the new? shoes though! I have the midnight tweed pencil skirt in 0P if you are interested. I

    • Thanks for your feedback Jenn! I really appreciate it. Do you think if I slim the sleeves – it will make a difference? I really love the suit..LOL Thank you for offering the midnight tweed pencil skirt in 0p but I need a 00p:(

  4. I love the skirt on you. The fit is perfect, but feel that the jacket isn’t quite right. The sleeves are neither 3/4 nor full length and I would have liked to see a photo of the back of the jacket to see how it fits on you. The nature of light tweed patter is that it looks more bulky on and makes the jacket appear bigger than it actually is.

  6. I love both picks! I may need to try the blazer if they have a sale that works on the blazer again.

I really love the top you paired it with and your Pigalle’s are so sleek! Unfortunately my arch couldn’t tolerate this style but I can still admire them on other people. 🙂
