Forever 21 Buy 1 Get 1 Free Sale & OOTD

CoralDress.jpg
Twisted surplice dress (excuse the wrinkle mess)- size small (on sale for $10.99 and part of BOGO)
I wanted to share this with you before the small sizes sell out. I originally bought this at full price but then returned it and re-ordered for the buy 1, get 1 free sale Forever 21 is having through Labor Day weekend. It also comes in a light gray color but I am afraid the color will be too light and see-through. I love the twist design and fits really nicely. It's very sexy so I will either layer with a cardigan/blazer or wear it for date night. The length is perfect for someone my height.
I also ordered the bold floral print sheath dress as part of the BOGO sale so I ended up getting my surplice dress for free! I suspect the floral sheath will require some slimming but I'm okay with that :) I had a couple of other dresses in my cart and they all sold out immediately in my size.

Crochet and Ruffles: Club Monaco Jayne Skirt

ClubMonacoRedCrochet01.jpg
Blouse: H&M {old} - size 2 (similar HERE and HERE)
Skirt: Club Monaco - size 00 (buy HERE)
Pearls: Loft {old} (similar HERE)
Purse: Chanel
Shoes: Talbots in praline - size 5 (similar HERE and HERE)
ClubMonacoRedCrochet06.jpg
This is my first purchase from Club Monaco and I am really happy with it. I found this last month while visiting my family in the Midwest. I was shocked to see they carried 00's and it fits fairly well. A bit loose in the waist but not too bad.  I usually don't pay full price for a skirt like this but it's one of those things that I just loved and had to have.

H&M Tweed Skirt Suit for $35 (Complete Set)

HMTweedSuit08.jpg
Blazer: H&M{style #:022981} - size 2 $19.95
Skirt: H&M {style #: 028200} - size 2 $14.95
Purse: Rebecca Minkoff in burnt orange
Shoes: Ann Taylor (old) - size 5 (similar HERE and HERE)
Necklace: Chanel
HMTweedSuit12.jpg
As soon as I saw this tweed skirt suit online, I knew I had to have it. I  was doing some returns this past weekend and luckily was able to find both the blazer and skirt in-stores. It's a brand new arrival so get it before it's gone! I was shocked to see the price tag of both items and figured it must be really poorly made. Much to my surprise, the blazer and skirt are both fully lined and the quality is decent. The sleeves on the blazer is fully lined- my last two collarless blazers that were $49.95 did not have lining at the sleeves.

F21EyelashLace06.jpg
We all know that Forever 21 is usually hit or miss but there are rare occasions that you find a gem. This eyelash lace top is definitely one of them. Thanks to Jess for posting it on IG and providing measurements for me, I was able to find it while in the Midwest. It was perfect timing because my Mom was teaching me how to sew. She showed me how to take in the sides of this very boxy and wide top. I took it in by 1-1.5" on both sides. I think it looks better when worn casually but I wanted to try tucking it in and dressing it up with a pencil skirt. It's still a bit wide even after alterations but I think I'll just keep it this way for now.

Fitting Room: Forever 21 (& Banana Republic 50% off 5 items)

OOTD1.jpg
Here are a couple of outfits that I wore to work this week. I have been stalking this big dot circle skirt for months and miraculously one popped up in a 00P recently. This post is a bit random so I apologize in advance:) It's a compilation of fitting room items, OOTD's (outfit of the day) and Banana Republic's Friends and Family sale.
Bebeskirt.jpg
This burgundy Bebe pencil skirt was a gift from Karri (dear friend and reader). It is one of my favorite skirts and fits me perfectly (size is 00).

Review: J.Crew Icon Trench vs. Wool Cashmere Icon Trench

It's probably a bit pre-mature to be doing a coat review but I thought I would get a jump start for you ladies:) I ordered both of these styles to compare for those of you in the market for a trench or a heaver trench style coat.
CompareTrench.jpg
Left: J.Crew Icon Trench in wool cashmere - size 00P
Right: J.Crew Icon Trench - size 00
CashmereTrench2.jpg
MATERIAL: The material is made out of luxurious Italian wool cashmere (and oh so soft). It appears really thick and heavy but it's very comfortable. It's comparable to the weight of the lady day coat. 70% wool, 22% nylon and 8% cashmere

QUALITY/DESIGN: The quality is amazing and most J.Crew items are very well made. All the stitching and buttons are perfect - couldn't find any flaws. I love the button tabs on the shoulders, buckle tabs on cuffs, welt pockets with flaps. The back has a vent with storm flap.
SIZE/FIT: 00P - fits someone my size nicely. It leaves plenty of room for thicker blazers or sweaters underneath. I think it's important to remember this when shopping for coats- will it fit over all your layers?  This one fits comfortably without looking too bulky.
Shoulder to shoulder = 14"
Sleeves = 21.5"
Waist = 16"
Total length = 37"
CashmereTrench3.jpg
CashmereTrench4.jpg
COLOR: The color I have here is called heather acorn. It's available in a navy and cabernet (gorgeous burgundy). I love the heather acorn. It's neutral and classic.

PRICE: $345 - It's very expensive and I am hoping for a sale soon. I don't think I could spend this much on a coat. I have two lady day coats from last year that should tie me over for now. Do I really need this coat or do I just want it
Trench2.jpg
J.Crew Icon Trench - size 00
MATERIAL: 100% cotton - I like that it's a lighter material and would make more sense for someone living in a warmer state. Although it does get cold enough for thicker coats where I live.  This is a classic trench style that would transition well over the years.

QUALITY: Since I don't own any other trench coats, it's hard for me to compare.  The quality is very well made which is typical for J.Crew. A reader told me that this is the same material that Burberry coats are cut from? Can anyone attest to that? I have no clue since I don't own a Burberry trench or even tried one on.
Trench3.jpg
SIZE/FIT: The size I am wearing is a 00 regular. I don't believe this came in petite sizing. I wish it did so then the sleeves would fit w/out alterations.
Shoulder to shoulder = 14"
Sleeves = 23 3/4"
Waist = 16"
Total length = 36"

PRICE:  I got this on sale for $148 after discounts. Not bad since it's now full price again.  I will have to get the sleeves tailored which is an additional expense.
BackandSleeve.jpg
Here is a comparison photo to show you the wool cashmere in 00P is a bit longer in length and about 1" shorter in the sleeves compared to the 00 regular.  All in all, both fit pretty similar in size except the sleeves.
What are your thoughts? Do I keep the regular trench and get the sleeves tailored?

Rebecca Taylor Tweed and YSL Cabas Chyc Mini

RebeccaTaylorYSLBlush16.jpg
Dress: Rebecca Taylor - size 0 (similar HERE and HERE)
Shoes: Talbots in pink salt - size 5 (similar HERE and HERE)
Nail Polish: Revlon peach petal
Earrings: Ann Taylor cabochon (similar HERE and HERE)
RebeccaTaylorYSLBlush22.jpg
This Rebecca Taylor tweed dress was a major score when I was visiting my family several weeks ago. It was kind of a fluke that I found it. I typically loathe going into Macy's but my sister dragged me in there to rummage through the sales racks to find free people items for her. While I was digging through the messy clearance racks, I saw this tweed material sticking out of the clearance racks, my eyes were immediately drawn to it and when I pulled it out....I shrieked like a little girl. The SA's were laughing at me as I ran into the fitting room. It looked so small on the hanger so I knew it had hope. As soon as I put it on, I yelled for my sister to come and check it out. I couldn't believe my eyes. It fit like a glove in every square inch with no alterations? Could this be? I fell in love instantly.   I've heard of Rebecca Taylor but her price point has always been a bit much for me and never knew her size 0's ran so small. I'm not sure if it's just this particular dress that is petite friendly but it's worth checking out.
RebeccaTaylorYSLBlush09.jpg
The dress was regular price $475 but marked down to $148 plus I had a coupon. Total out the door was $118. I thought this was a phenomenal deal for a designer dress with no tailoring costs and I feel great in it.
RebeccaTaylorYSLBlush06.jpg
Say hello to my new blush baby....isn't she gorgeous? I debated between this and the Ferragamo Briana in grey opal. The price point of the Ferragamo is very attractive - it's much lower than most similar designer bags. The only downside is it didn't come in a blush color and you have to purchase the longer strap separately. I do love the sleek and structured design of the Ferragamo bag....it was a tough decision but I ultimately went with my gut.
RebeccaTaylorYSLBlush20.jpg
RebeccaTaylorYSLBlush02.jpg
I love this outfit for so many reasons...it's a tweed dress that has a bit of edge yet still holding a feminine flair. The blush accents add just the right amount of color but still staying neutral. This is a great example of my personal style.
RebeccaTaylorYSLBlush23.jpg
Do you think I made the right decision choosing the blush YSL? And have you experienced Rebecca Taylor?

Ann Taylor Bi-Stretch Skinny Crop Pants & Stretch Twill Pencil Skirts

I apologize for the back to back Ann Taylor review posts but wanted to get them up before small sizes sell out:)

ATCROPPANTS1.jpg
Bi-stretch skinny crop pants - size 00P (sangria purple)
These fit amazing in every area. The problem I have with pants is there is always a waist gap and the length is always too long. These hug me and are so comfortable. I will see if the butt stretches out after wearing it for a full day (will keep you posted and update with measurements later).
ATCROPPANTS.jpg
I am always in search for great pencil skirts and this one is great except it's not lined. The length is nice for work and comes in a vast array of colors to choose from. It does fit looser than the AT ponte skirts. (will have measurements later)
ATTWILLSKIRTS1.jpg
Stretch twill pencil skirt - size 00P (dusty cobalt)
Stretch Twill pencil skirt - size 00P (roasted carrot)
ATTWILLSKIRTSBACK.jpg
If anyone has the deep verdue (yellow/mustard) color in a 00P, please let me know if you change your mind. I have been stalking the website and still hasn't come back in stock:
I just ordered both colors of this lace pencil skirt since I have been having great luck lately with Ann Taylor. My burgundy lace F21 skirt is such low quality and I am afraid it won't stand the test of time.
OOTD.jpg
This is what I am wearing today (with F21 top that Mom and I slimmed the sides and sleeves) and am curious to see if the pants do stretch throughout the day. Usually the butt starts sagging after sitting for a long period of time. I will let you ladies know the verdict!
What are your thoughts on these items?

Ann Taylor Lace Tee, Chevron Top, Ponte Skirts and Marinella Print

ATlacetop.jpg
Lace short sleeve tee - size XXSP
This lace tee fits extremely well and tucks in great with a skirt.  I love the eyelash lace and cute short sleeve sleeves.
ATFloralSkirt.jpg
Marinella Print Pencil Skirt - 00P
It's hard to tell from the pics because I have it belted but the skirt is very wide and big. I like the Marinella print with the rich colors and can see it working nicely for Fall/Winter. I would recommend if you are a size bigger than I am.
AnnTaylorChevron.jpg
Chevon Top - size XXSP
AG Denim - size 24
Sydney patent sandals - size 5
I love the whole chevron print idea but at this price, I can't see me keeping it as a casual shirt. Maybe if it goes on major clearance then I will reconsider. See on Tara here.
ANNTAYLORPONTESKIRTS.jpg
Ponte seamed skirt in ripe avocado - size 00P worn with Maritime blazer - size XXS
Ponte seamed skirt in hypnotic pink - size 00P worn with H&M swiss dot blouse - size 2
Both paired with Christian Louboutin Simple 100's in nude patent - size 34.5
Remember my several orders that got mis-labeled and took over 4 weeks to get to me? Well they finally arrived and here are my ponte skirts I have been anxiously awaiting. This year's version is fully lined and fits a bit nicer than my green or blue ponte ones from last year. I did however notice that the ripe avocado is bigger in the hips on one side and slightly longer in length compared to the hypnotic pink.

I was too lazy to take pics of my Canvas platform wedges and Cork platform wedges in natural but both run very small. This is great news for ladies that typically cannot fit the size 5 AT pumps.
What are your thoughts on all of these items?

H&M Burgundy Dress, Leopard and Blush

H&MBurgundyDress02.jpg
Dress: H&M - size 2 (similar HERE and HERE)
Belt: Ann Taylor - size XS (similar HERE and HERE)
Clutch: H&M (similar HERE and HERE)
Shoes: Talbots - size 5 (similar HERE and HERE)
It has been so incredibly hot in CA that I don't know how much more of the heat I can take.  I was so excited about my H&M pencil dresses that I took them out for  spin yesterday (in 110 degree weather). I wanted to pair it with a blazer to show you both ways but it was way too hot.
H&MBurgundyDress09.jpg
These talbot shoes are amazing! I love the color and it's even more comfortable than my Ann Taylor perfect pumps. The size fits me great and no slippage or gap in the back. They are currently on final (only factory peacock green is final) sale for $27.59. I bought them in 3 colors. The quality is amazing and have leather soles just like AT. I highly recommend them.
**update**
They fit 1/2 size smaller than Ann Taylor and very similar to J.Crew shoes. You may want to order 2 sizes to see which fit better as long as they are not final sale. Hope this helps!
H&MBurgundyDress01.jpg
I can totally imagine this outfit with my new blush handbag (on the way).  I went to Nordstrom's to see the blush color in person and of course they were all sold out.  Luckily I was able to try on the mini size to gauge how it looked on me and I loved it. I also looked at the Ferragamo Briana but it didn't come in any colors I wanted. There was a grayish/taupe that was nice but I really want a blush color.  I was shocked to see how much cheaper the Ferragamo handbags are compared to YSL or Prada.
H&MBurgundyDress19.jpg
Bracelet: BR Factory $5 (similar HERE and HERE)
H&MBurgundyDress06.jpg
It's apparent that burgundy is the "it" color for Fall/Winter and I am loving all the deep, rich tones.  I usually love Summer but am definitely looking forward to cooler weather.
Are you a fan of the color burgundy?

H&M Red and Burgundy Pencil Crepe Dress & Shopping Updates

**UPDATE**
I have been eying this dress and blouse (still haven't found blouse) and immediately put it on my H&M wish list. I was elated to find the dress in-stores in two colors (burgundy and red). I couldn't decide and didn't have time to try it on so I grabbed both and rushed to the register in complete joy. The size 2 fits me perfectly and I immediately feel good when putting it on. The stretchy crepe fabric is really nice and doesn't seem to be wrinkle prone. The decorative fabric around the neckline is so feminine and thank goodness it has concealed back zip. I am not a fan of exposed zippers so was relieved to see how sleek the design was. I love the fitted shape and can see me wearing it alone or with a blazer for work. The length hits right at the knee which is my ideal for me.
HMDresses.jpg
Style #: 024160 - size 2 ($34.95)
63% polyester, 4% elastane, 33% viscose
We got home late from celebrating our anniversary last night and I was too tired to try this on. I couldn't wait to wake up and see how the fit was. I didn't think I was going to keep both colors but I love it so much and the fit is amazing. I know that both colors will get a lot of love. I'll share more of my shopping finds from yesterday later on today (have to make breakfast for hubby) - just wanted to get this out in case you are heading out today and want to look for this.
***UPDATE***
Here a few random things I found yesterday that I think is worth sharing. AugustShopping06.jpg
Nordstrom Rack contrast blouse - $34.95 (see here for tag info)
AugustShopping08.jpg
Banana Republic Factory blouse {style# 220540} - size XXSP (on sale for $38 from $54.99) See it here tucked in skirt. The fit is really nice and is a great dupe to the J.Crew blythe blouse  except it's polyester. The sides are slim and require no alterations which is a huge plus. I think it's still expensive for a poly blouse but I did purchase it.
AugustShopping07.jpg
The famous BR factory tweed belted sheath dress is back in stores! I saw this when I was in the Midwest but was too lazy to tweet about it but wanted to share in case anyone missed out last year.
AugustShopping10.jpg
Ann Taylor factory - size 00P {style #: 285566}
I must have been in a rush and not thinking when I bought this because I realized I have a similar skirt but in a jersey material from the regular AT.  The fit is nice but slightly roomy in the waist. The navy crochet lace dress  just like the cream version last year is on major clearance for $35. I couldn't help but take the 00P hanging on the rack home.
AugustShopping12.jpg
Zara skull and chain blouse - $49.95
Here are some online orders that I recently got:
AugustShopping04.jpg
Zara kids blazer - size 11/12
The fit is boxy and wide like I expected so will be returning.
AugustShopping02.jpg
J.Crew maritime-stripe blazer in navy - size XXS
I originally wanted the dragonfly blue but at the time I placed my order, it was sold out so I settled for this one. Low and behold, it popped back up and I was able to snatch it. I'll probably keep the navy/white since it will get more wear. I've been searching for a striped blazer ever since I sold my LOFT one last year.
AugustShopping03.jpg
Pleated polka dot skirt- size 00
The waist is really big- will be returning.
AugustShopping01.jpg
J.Crew Sydney patent sandals in neon azalea - size 5
I originally was stalking the bronzed clay (blush/nude) color but of course it was not available. I decided I needed a pair of pink shoes in my life and for $50, I thought this was a great deal for leather Italian sandals. J.Crew shoes run about 1/2 size smaller than Ann Taylor pumps which means the size 5's fit me perfectly!
AugustShopping05.jpg
And yes I am already wearing my red H&M blazer (same as yellow version) I was searching all over for. I found two extra blazers in size 2 yesterday, both were claimed for but now someone backed out so it's available if anyone is interested.
Have a happy rest of your Sunday! : )
