a-thread reached out to me in early December and asked if I would be interested in collaborating with them. Back in my early blogging days, I would have said yes to pretty much any sponsor request but now I am much more picky. I turn down more than I take on only because I want to review/feature items that I would normally purchase myself.

Dress: C/O a-thread - size small

a-thread is an online clothing and accessory boutique based out of Los Angeles. What I love most about them is their mission. They give back 5% of every sale to a charity of your choice - you can read more about it here. They combine fashion with giving back to help others in need, I would support that any day!
One of the things I look for in an online retailer is the ease of their site. I get easily distracted when shopping online and if a website is cluttered or hard to navigate, I move on quickly. I was pleasantly surprised when perusing a-thread's online shop. It's very simple and clean - easy to shop. Another important factor is the shipping and return policy. a-thread offers free shipping on all orders above $75 and if you are not satisfied with your purchase, you can return the item for a full refund/exchange within 30 day and they will even pay for the return shipping (applies to domestic orders only). For International readers, they offer International shipping!
There were several items that I liked but this silk scallop dress was very unique and caught my eye. Unfortunately it was a big tent on me so I had to do some major slimming. It took me a couple of weekends because the material was so delicate and I'm a beginner sewer.
It was one of my options for NYE but because of my not so great alterations, I didn't want to be fidgeting all night - fixing and adjusting. I was pretty bummed because it's a gorgeous dress. The material is so soft I haven't seen any dress like this. It's a shift style dress and I tried to belt it to give it some shape but it still didn't look right so I opted for a bright pink blazer. I like that the dress is not sequins - thus limiting only wearing it for NYE. The dress features multi colored metallic scallops in the front and is fully lined. The only downside is that the dress is a bit sheer - even with the lining. I either have to go commando or wear a nude slip which I think I will choose the latter :)
I decided to wear it as a shift dress and add my blazer for a pop of color. This will be a great outfit for a Holiday party or NYE next year. If you are interested in this dress, it's currently sold out but a-thread is checking with the vendor to see if it will be re-stocked. Will update when I have an answer. For now, readers can enjoy 10% off through the end of January with code: STYLISHPETITE10
