Flea Market & Helpful Tips

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope you are having a great start to the weekend! I was going through my photos and realized I never shared my flea market trip from last month.

I haven’t been to one in a long time but decided it would be fun and drag hubby there. Of course, the one time we decide to go, it ended up being 80+ degrees out (in January) and we were not prepared with any sunblock or hats.

It was cool to see all the different items people were selling and watching the pros scope out the goods.  If anything, people watching was fun and very interesting.

I wasn’t looking for anything in particular but ended up finding a couple of treasures including a vintage vanity tray and a vintage brooch.  Here are some tips that I think are helpful if you decide to go to a flea market:

  • Bring sunscreen or a hat (depending on the state you live in and weather conditions – better to be safe than sorry)
  • Bring lots of cash (small bills like $1 and $5)
  • Don’t be afraid to negotiate or bargain (it never hurts to ask)
  • Go early in the morning – usually the good treasures are already gone by the early afternoon (some flea markets will allow you to pay extra to go before they officially open)
  • If you see something you like, get it because it won’t be there later and/or it will be hard to find if the flea market is a larger one
  • Be careful of replicas (I saw a lot of fake brand name goods)
  • Wear comfy shoes
  • Use a crossbody instead of a purse so you can be hands free to dig for goodies
  • If you can last through the end of the day (as they are shutting down), that is when you will really score a good bargain because they want to get rid of things. The risk is that all the good items will be gone.
  • Be patient – flea markets are not for those in a rush. You really have to take your time and check out every booth.

  1. I haven’t been to a flea market since I was a little kid. My grandparents loved to go but then they moved back to Taiwan.

The other day I saw a similar mirrored vanity tray while browsing Zara Home and though of the one you found which is still prettier. 🙂

  2. Good day I am so grateful I found your website, I really found you
by accident, while I was browsing on Digg for something else, Anyhow I am here now and would just like to say thanks for a tremendous
post and a all round exciting blog (I also love the theme/design), I don’t have time to read it all at the minute but I have bookmarked it and also included your RSS feeds, so when I
have time I will be back to read more, Please do keep up
    the excellent work.

  3. My programmer is trying to convince me to move to .net from
PHP. I have always disliked the idea because of
the expenses. But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using WordPress on numerous websites for about a year and am anxious about switching
to another platform. I have heard excellent things about blogengine.net.
Is there a way I can import all my wordpress content into it?
Any help would be really appreciated!

  4. The other day, while I was at work, my cousin stole
my apple ipad and tested to see if it can survive a 40 foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My
apple ipad is now destroyed and she has 83 views. I know this is entirely off topic but I had
    to share it with someone!
