J.Crew Scallop Crepe Dress
J.Crew Scallop Crepe Dress (navy and bright persimmon)- size 00P (buy here)
Measurements: shoulder to shoulder 11.5″, armpit to armpit 14.5″, waist 12″ across, hips 16″ across, total length 33″
I love everything about this dress except how low cut it is. Why oh why J.Crew? It would have been so perfect! The crepe material is one of my favorites because it drapes nicely and is very figure flattering. The scallop detail and faux wrap silhouette is very elegant. It fits me perfectly and I need to figure out how to make the neckline work. I think I can make it less low cut by sewing a little bit of the neckline together. I thought about layering it with a dressy button up blouse for more coverage. I must keep one! Still deciding on which the color.
Ann Taylor Windowpane Jacquard Topper
Measurements: shoulder to shoulder 13.5″, armpit to armpit 16″, sleeves 19.5″, total length 30″
This is by far the best fitting Ann Taylor jacket I’ve ever tried on. Their coats usually run big and wide on me but this one is cut smaller. If you are looking for a coat to keep you warm, this is definitely not it. The thickness is comparable to a blazer – perfect for warmer weather climates. There’s a beige line in the windowpane (not noticeable online) – you can hardly see it and it doesn’t bother me. I love the rounded point collar and the sleeves are slim. The sleeves are perfect on me but I have extra short arms – if you have longer arms, expect it to be 3/4″. Love it and would recommend.
Ann Taylor Animal Jacquard Coat-2
Measurements: shoulder to shoulder 14″, armpit to armpit 16″, sleeves 18″, total length 30″
I’ve been wanting this coat for quite some time and finally was able to score it during the 70% off flash sale for $67. It fits similar to the windowpane jacquard topper. It’s not a thick coat but will be nice for Cali winters and chilly evenings. The quality is well made and I was impressed. Would recommend.
Ann Taylor Jackie Bow Sandals
These sandals have been haunting me for so long and somehow I managed to snag them for only $55 during the 70% flash sale. Ann Taylor pumps are usually too big for me but luckily their sandals fit me. The only complaint is that the bow isn’t as fluffy as the picture online but it’s still a pretty bow. The ankles are loose but not too bad. If you have skinny or narrow ankles, these might not work for you. It also comes in white and would be a beautiful for a wedding.
WHBM Tweed Jacket wtih Bow
WHBM Tweed Jacket with Bow – size 00P (buy here)
Measurements: shoulder to shoulder 12.5″, armpit to armpit 14″, sleeves 16″, total length 18.5″
I posted this on Instagram last week and had to have it. The fit is amazing and feels like it was tailored for me but the bow is much bigger than I thought. The whole reason why I fell in love with this blazer was because of the bow – so to remove it, is pointless right? I love that they made it detachable but it’s a bit too big. Something doesn’t feel right. I tried putting the bow in different places but it feels just odd. I’ll play around with it some more before deciding. The quality is very nice and I’m impressed the sizing runs smaller than other retailers.
Kate Spade Lisa Pump
Kate Spade Lisa Pump – size 5 (buy here)
Nordstrom recently marked these down over 50% off so I ordered just to try. Now I see they are back up to full price? They are so pretty but I want to make sure I will get a lot of wear out of them. They look more like wedding shoes to me but they sure are pretty. Still debating.

  1. Dude, totally agreed on the low cut dress. Why do retailers that mostly make work-wear do that to us? I hate wearing camis under dresses.

I really love those Kate Spade white bow pumps but I have the same concern you do–white shoes are a bit wedding-ish and I can only imagine they’ll get dirty exceptionally quickly. But that said, they’re so cute!

    • I was so bummed about the neckline! Gah! Not sure if I’m keeping for sure or not. I love everything but that. I’m on the fence about the Kate Spade white pumps…I got such a good deal too. Decision decisions! :))

  2. I love how the jacquard and windowpane coat looks on you! Now I will be looking out for a flash sale as well. Can you instagram alert when you see one? Thank you for the great recommendations! (It helps somebody like me who doesn’t have an Ann taylor store nearby.. seriously..). Thanks!

  3. I actually like the low cut neckline. You have the decolletage for it and it looks great on you! Wear it more for a going out dress than work attire. I like both colours on you so I am no help there. The persimmon looks really nice on your skin.

  4. I gree with you on the blazer- the bow looks strange and weirdly placed. On the other hand the Kate Spade bow pumps are super cute! I’d want them in black though!

  5. The Kate Spade shoes are definitely wedding territory. I like the Anne Taylor ones better.

  6. Hi! Do you have any advice for a new blogger starting out? It’s awesome and inspiring how you’ve built your blog over time. Your pictures are gorgeous and so are your outfits. How did you gain more popularity? It can be nerve-wracking sometimes. :-

  7. How about buying a separate black bow elsewhere and attaching it to the jacket? I think the jacket is still really pretty without the bow and worth keeping 🙂 Thank you for reviewing Jcrew dress and Ann Taylor topper, was curious about those for a while.

  8. Thank you for reviewing the J.Crew Crepe Scallop Dress! I am actually deciding between the permission and navy as well. Which color cami would you recommend wearing under the dress?
