DIY: Gold Foil Prints Tutorial

Today I’m going to show you how to make your own DIY gold foil prints! This post has been in the que since January so here it is.  When I was searching for gold foil prints for my home office renovation, I came across this amazing tutorial. It seemed easy enough and trust me, if I can do it – anyone can!

2.) gold foil (toner reactive)
3.) black/white prints
4.) scissors

*Tip: turn on your laminator to allow time to pre-heat.

Step 1:
Create your own black and white prints using Photoshop or any free online photo editing program (like PicMonkey) and then simply print it out.

*Tip: make sure to use a toner printer only and NOT an inkjet printer.

Cut enough gold foil to cover the image and smooth out any wrinkles.
*Tip: Make sure the gold foil is facing up towards you. This is extremely important!

Step 3:
Place a blank white piece of paper over the gold foil (like a paper sandwich) as this will hold everything in place.
*Tip: Be sure everything is free of particles, hair and dust or you may end up with spots.

Now carefully insert the paper sandwich into the laminator and let it feed through.
*Tip: Let the paper go all the way through on it’s own – do not pull on the paper.

Peel off the gold foil and voila!  You have your final product!  If you need a gold frame to put your new prints in, I love these HERE.

There were a few minor issues with both as you can see some lines on the top of the Chanel logo and a few spots on the bow print but the imperfections make it look vintage-y.  This was so much fun and super easy to do!
